Say what you will about the ending, Lost was a great show. The struggle between Jack and Sawyer, two very different guys, was one of my favorite parts. Constant tension, frequent arguments, and the occasional fisticuffs made it a lot of fun!
Another commission for someone online. Still drawing on paper and finishing digitally. I can't seem to draw with the tablet very well. Hopefully it comes with practice...
I've been able to do a couple of free commissions lately. Nothing big, just some personal requests. I'm pretty happy with the background, which is usually not the case. Another good learning experience with the tablet.
This is my second venture coloring with the tablet. I got a little carried with the background I guess. Doesn't really match the line work in the foreground. But hey, it's full of enthusiasm!
Alright, settle down there. No more batches for a while.
This piece was a commission. It gave me the chance to experiment with my Wacom tablet. Painting has never been a strong suit of mine, but this is pretty decent for a first shot at a digital paint job. Always more to learn.
Another quick doodle of one of my favorites. The repressed and calculating Cyclops! I remember reading the comics when I was a kid and he actually used to ricochet his blasts off of bad guys to take them out in geometric patterns. Tsk. All those yesterdays.
Yes, that's his unofficial designation. I guess this is a fairly timely doodle. Even though I drew it months ago. But now Bucky's dead! For real this time. So long James Buchanon Barnes, you really grew on me.
Been a long time since an update of any sort. I suppose it's equal parts laziness and ambition. I've actually been drawing a lot lately. This, however, isn't new. But look at the colors!
Man those old Marvel covers really sold the sizzle, didn't they? So epic and ominous! And on the inside you get a bald jailbird with the magical power to become concrete or aluminum.
This guy is the result of a conversation I had with Hunter. (You can tell we have deep and philosophical discussions)I think he actually came up with the idea, I just executed the art. How often can you logically squirt a bunch of yellow and orange onto a shirt?
Alright. So clearly not my most creative effort. But it DID take effort! I decorated the whole office. And if it looks like I work in a basement, that's okay. Because it looks just like my basement at home. Only worse. On the plus side Matt let his princess party run for most of the day!
Definitely not her modern look, but it's always been my favorite. She didn't have her powers most of the time she looked like this, so I guess she had to look badass.
Sucks to be you pal. I wonder if they get these guys from orphanages? I guess sending e-mails on their iPads at Starfleet is a lot easier than writing notification letters.
I forget how awesome growing up in the 80s was. A golden age of action movies! And none were complete without snappy patter. The most ridiculous part of this movie (that I love!) is in the beginning when Dutch and Dillon clench hands in a brotherly embrace! Highlighted by their enormous sweaty biceps these guys look like G.I. Superheroes!
Hunter and I have bandied the idea of starting a t-shirt company about. This is one of my very early ideas for a shirt. I rather like its inventiveness. Could use some cleanup on the triceratops I think. But it's suitably wacky, fun, and colorful.
This t-shirt was for a martial arts apparel company. They wanted a gladiator theme. But judging by winning shirt (and most of the submissions) they were looking for something that looks like all the other MMA shirts. Anyway, I used a variety of brushes and textures on this piece. Tried some layer blending that I've never used before. Pretty happy with the result.
What a naughty elf! Blood magic is bad! I used some textures to create a bit more of an organic feel. The coloring itself came out pretty well, I'd say.
I mentioned this on Facebook a week or two ago, followed by a doodle that I never posted. So here it is! The theory being that my good buddy Ron is actually Spider Man! Peter Parker would often make plans and have to bail on them at the last second because he had greater responsibilities. Sounds familiar, eh?
Make it so! And all other manner of Star Trek jargon! Hm. This Jean-Luc Picard drawing looks suspiciously like Hawk from the Buck Rogers television show from the 70s-80s! Starring one Gil Gerard. Man I loved that show as a kid. And I think Colonel Deering's space uniform had a lasting effect on me, too. Uh, resistance is futile!
So a couple of weeks ago I started doing one-line drawings. You know, you render a complete drawing with one uninterrupted line. Just something to occupy myself between file saves at work. The first is very clearly GODZILLA! I love Godzilla. Some of my fondest memories are of those late Saturday mornings when they showed Monster movies. What a way to follow up Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends, right?
How do you burn something in the microwave? Really. I'm not saying ruin food. I mean burn. Is it possible? I didn't think so. I've never done it, never heard of anyone that's done it.
Somehow one of my coworkers burned a dinner roll in the microwave. Burned. Charred. A stench filling the office not unlike that of a freshly scorched loaf. The best part might be that I'm told he ate it.
Matt got a new smart phone recently. And an iPod. So it goes without saying that he's been absolutely addicted to Angry Birds. Every spare second he has he's smashing pig structures. And since Matt has some qualities in common with these avians boiling over with fury I thought it deserved an image in their honor!
Oh, I'm just talkin' about Cyclops. He's one bad--- Shutcho' mouth!
This guy really needs a new costume. I don't really get the whole forearm-calf armor look. What's that got to do with having one eye? Not that he only has one eye, but his name IS Cyclops. And why pinstripes?
I've got a pencil and I'm not afraid to use it! My whole life people have told me that I should do something with my talent. So now I'm giving it a shot. I am the aimless artist extraordinaire.
